Calorie reduction over the past decade
Through product innovation, choice and a variety of low- and no-calorie beverage options, beverage calories in Canada have decreased by 20% since 2004. With Balance Calories, Canada’s beverage manufacturers are recommitting to a goal of a further 20% reduction over the next decade.
Clear on Calories
In February 2011, the industry launched Clear on Calories, a front of pack caloric labeling initiative designed to help Canadians understand the caloric content and serving size of the beverages they were choosing. This initiative, led by the beverage industry, was rolled out across Canada and has since been adopted by other food manufacturers.
